Since 1988, I have been on a quest to find the Holy Grail of guitars, one guitar that can sound like 5 Guitars. I had gotten tired of having to shift from a Fender to a Gibson Guitar several times during a performance to fit the tone of the songs/tune I was playing.
I discovered the pick-ups had a lot to do with the tone. So I started using my own hand-wound pick-ups and experimenting with many kinds of magnets and magnet wires and different windings.
For some unexplainable reason, hand-wound pick-ups sound better than machine-wound. Some conjecture that handwinding creates an uneven spool which allows some air in between the magnet wires.
Through the years, I have perfected my hand-wound pick-ups to come close to the Holy Grail.
I also came up with a switching configuration that enables you to activate any of the 5 single coil pick-ups switching from humbucking to single and vice-versa at will and combining both.
RJ Guitars have been sold and accepted worldwide for 28 years. This is the first time I am marketing the Supervintage that is exactly the guitar I have been using all those years.
